Quito, February 6, 2009, Suelopetrol Ecuador, operator of Pucuna and Singue marginal fields successfully completed the repair and workover campaign of four inactive wells in the fields that operates and as a result got an average production increase of 900 barrels a day to total around 2,500 barrels a day in 10 active wells in Pucuna field.
The repairing campaign established a new milestone in oil exploitation in Western Ecuador by detecting a light crude oil 44° API in Pucuna 08 well. As a result of using advanced techniques it was possible to reach an average production of 456 barrels a day in T Superior sands which were not produced before. The highest crude gravity extracted in the Western area was 34° API according to information offered by Petroproduccion, affiliate of the State Company Petroecuador.
After receiving the operations on April 18, 2008, Suelopetrol started a maintenance, repairing and suitability of the Pucuna Station and other transferred facilities. Henrique Rodriguez, Suelopetrol President, indicated that from thirteen drilled wells, six are active, reason to start the tests and further repair and workover of inactive wells. Last December 4th, Suelopetrol shipped its first load of West crude barrels, which completed the integration chain of process from the well to shipping terminal, as operator. Up to this date 56,487 barrels of crude oil have been exported from Pucuna Field.
On the other hand, Jose Urdaneta Perez, Suelopetrol Ecuador general manager, explained that the optimization of processes and the use of adequate technological alternatives for the production system allowed maintaining stable the extraction initial volume of the Pucuna field and improving internal systems, which brought financial economy to the operations. In this way, the commitments acquired with the State Company Petrocabimas were accomplished.
Fernando Puig, operations manager, emphasized that state-of-the-art technology was used for the process analysis and evaluation of the results, with the support of Suelopetrol’s Technological Specialties Center (TSC) in Caracas and the participation of Venezuelan and Ecuadorian engineers.
For this year it is planned to continue the campaign with the repairing of one well and the conversion to water injector of other well that are inactive. Also, the evaluation and further repair of well Singue 01 will start in Singue Field.
In 2009 Suelopetrol Ecuador plans to continue the social commitments assumed last year through the general programs of community relationships, quality and professional improvement and security, health and environment.
Suelopetrol operates Pucuna and Singue fields for the Consorcio Petrolero Amazonico, with the Ecuadorian Company Dygoil.

Suelopetrol’s "Corporate Social Responsibility" program (CSR) is well known among local communities with whom Suelopetrol interacts both during E&P and Services Projects. As a best practice, the Project "Arature" in the flooded jungles of the Venezuelan Orinoco Delta has been funded entirely by Suelopetrol, benefiting many Warao indigenous families for more than 18 years. This initiative of working side by side with the Boca de Tigre Eco-Camp in the River Delta is a model of Ecotourism preserving nature.
